What is life without hope?
I feel moved by three geopolitical events that have developed in the last days and that affect three countries I love and that have shaped my identity and who I am today: Spain, Argentina, and Iran. Three countries that are most of the time misunderstood, and that are, more often than not, underestimated.
These events are:
1. The meeting between Argentina’s president, Javier Milei and Elon Musk
2. The meeting between Spain and the UK to finalize the Gibraltar agreement
3. The recent retaliation attacks between Iran and Israel
And here are my takeaways:
On Argentina: No matter how bad things are going for you, you need to believe in yourself for others to believe in you. And you don’t need everyone to believe in you. You just need the right people to do so. Argentina, country of hope, I believe in you!
On Spain: No matter how long, how difficult or how unfair a conflict has been, you should never give up. Never! And you should always fight for what is right for you. Because if you don’t, no one will. Gibraltar is Spanish, and we will never give up claiming so!
On Iran: In a war there are no winners, only losers. War is never the solution. However if you are being attacked, you must defend yourself. Most importantly, beyond defending yourself, you should always defend your ideals, even if you are the only one that believes in them. Applicable for both persons and countries: you should never judge someone. You should try to understand them.
Believing in oneself, defending own ideals, and never giving up - is how the history of the world is written. HOPE is what moves the world.
To everyone that is reading: what do you hope for? Go and write your own history!
¡Viva la libertad y viva la ilusión, carajo!
