I am openly and vocally against the EU–INC initiative.
I am completely repelled by the idea of creating a regulation that establishes a so-called "pan-European legal entity" and overrides national laws on the same matter.
I am firmly opposed to any initiative that erodes national sovereignty and privileges one specific type of company, shareholder, or founder.
To all the fervent EU-believers: please remember that the EU was created as a market union, not a federal union. We have accepted the transfer of sovereignty over our borders, our currency, and our competition laws in exchange for trade integration and economic growth for our citizens.
As part of that deal, we support the free movement of capital, goods, and people, and the removal of barriers that obstruct that flow
But we have not agreed, nor are we willing to agree, to the transfer of:
- our fiscal policies (already constrained to protect the credibility of a shared currency)
- our labour and human capital laws (that have seen flat growth on their wages over the last 3 decades as a result of playing on a single market)
- our corporate laws (which are being burdened with endless reporting demands that produce metrics but no value)
- our tax laws (taxes that we share to keep institutions like the European Commission, European Central Bank, European Parliament, and more)
When we need to coordinate laws in the EU, we use directives. They set shared goals but let each country decide how to implement them
But EU–INC is pushing for a regulation, a rule that applies directly across member states, bypassing national parliaments. In other words, more power handed to Brussels, less control left to national governments over their laws, tax base, and economies
I used to be one of those who believed that more Europe was the solution to our problems. Until I understood that many of our problems exist because of Europe
I am done with the narrative that the EU is the saviour of the world. I am done with the claim that “EU tech” will save Europe. I am done watching the EU prioritise abstract causes over its citizens, pursuing a mystical “higher good” while ignoring the real economy. I am tired of EU elites who believe their contribution is more valuable than everyone else’s, their ideas more legitimate, and their causes more deserving of public subsidies
We’ve lived through over a decade of “tech and innovation” tyranny in Europe, where we were told that if we trusted them and bankrolled them, they would deliver jobs, real GDP growth, and wealth creation
Now, in 2025, all I see is bankruptcies, speculation, and overpriced assets waiting to burst
I welcome people who contribute ideas and launch initiatives to grow Europe’s economy. But when contribution turns into imposition, resistance isn’t just justified. It’s necessary
It’s like religion. You’re free to believe what you want. I’ll defend your right to do so.
But if your salvation requires me to follow your rules, don’t count on me.
