There are two types of people in this world: those who have Gramsci’s playbook and those who don’t
If you can’t shake that feeling of shock when reading the news, you didn't get a copy. So here is yours
Antonio Gramsci was an Italian Marxist imprisoned by Mussolini who wrote the most powerful instruction manual for modern politics
The irony is that in 2026 those who know his manual best aren't leftists but the radical right, shock-libertarians and ultranationalists. This communist script is used by his enemies because they understood the essential truth: power doesn't lie in weapons but in culture
Here are the keys to this manual so you can understand why the world seems to have gone mad:
- The war is no longer fought with tanks. Storming palaces is for amateurs. Gramsci knew power doesn't reside in the State, but in social trenches: schools, cinema and the media. If you control the TV script or the school curriculum, the State will eventually collapse under its own weight. Culture is the core, politics is just the shell
- The prize is "Common Sense." Absolute power doesn't use guns (which breeds resistance). Real power is Hegemony: making your ideas perceived as "normal." Once something is "common sense" it’s no longer up for debate. Often manufactured so that your neighbor repeats it fully convinced it was their own original thought
- Constructing reality. Politicians are just the face, true architects of reality are the "intellectuals"—influencers, journalists and screenwriters. Their job is to translate complex concepts into memes or viral slogans. You don't need to convince millions, you just need to control the people who talk to them. Whoever defines reality, controls it
- Nothing is spontaneous. Spontaneity is for people without a plan. Real change is engineered via a coordinated network functioning as a collective brain. If suddenly everyone is talking about the same thing on social media and the news it’s not an epiphany. It’s a structure coordinating the message so the atmosphere appears to change "naturally"
- The silent invasion. This is a long game. It’s not just about winning an election, it’s about occupying the institutions that decide what matters. It’s a slow replacement in the courts, the universities and the boardrooms. You replace anyone who thinks differently until by the time the system tries to react, there’s no one left to defend it
Basically what we’re watching on the news isn't debate, its global leaders clashing on the battlefield of culture. Reality has been hijacked and words weaponised
So stay safe! Use this manual first as a shield (so no one can manipulate you) and then as a tool. If these strategies can be used to divide, imagine what they could achieve in the hands of empathetic people
Stop waiting for things to fix themselves or for your social media rants to change anything. Real change requires coordination and anyone who wants to change the world needs this playbook
Here it is. Use it well
